IFNANO Institute for Nanophotonics

About us

The Institute for Nanophotonics Göttingen e.V. (IFNANO) was founded in 1987 under the name Laser-Laboratorium Göttingen as a research institute by the registered, non-profit supporting association LLG e.V. and exists since then as a research institution institution institutionally supported by the state of Lower Saxony. Since its foundation, the purpose of the statutes "Promotion of laser research" has been successfully realized through applied basic research and knowledge transfer to industry by means of research contracts, consulting, scientific expertise, training and services, and documented by a large number of publications.

The departments of the institute have gained worldwide recognition with their developments in various fields of applied optical technologies.

The research activities range from the development of non-contact laser measurement techniques, the manufacture of new products and product refinement using lasers, the development of new laser systems to applications in the life sciences and medical technology.
