13th Stop: Municipal Museum
The museum’s exhibitions about the city’s history also include several exhibits pertaining to the history and development of Goettingen’s precision mechanics and metrological manufacturers. Instruments from the shops of Friedrich Apel, Rudolf Winkel, Zeiss-Winkel, Wilhelm Lambrecht, Florenz Sartorius, Spindler & Hoyer and Bros. Ruhstrat are on display.
The department of university history honors Georg Christoph Lichtenberg as physicist and man of letters. Among other things, instruments from his famous collection are on show.
A genuine piece of the original wire of Gauss’ first electro-magnetic telegraph shows the physicist’s accomplishments.
