„Super-resolution fluorescence imaging in neurology and nephrology“

I will in this talk present some of our super-resolution imaging studies in neurology and nephrology. With the help of several microscopy modalities (PALM/STORM, SIM, STED), we have resolved the distribution of postsynaptic proteins in dendritic spines. We have in these investigations especially focused on estimates of the protein amount allowing assessments of how variations depending on labeling strategies, sample analysis and choice of nano- scopic imaging method; concluding that all may be critical factors for correct molecular quantification at the nanoscale. In our nephrology study we have applied clearing methods recently developed to image whole brains to image mouse, rat and human kidney morphology on the nanoscale with super-resolution STED imaging. „Super-resolution fluorescence imaging in neurology and nephrology“
